{31 Day #1} Why Planner Fun and a Giveaway

October 01, 2014

Friends, many of you are not leaving your email address for the giveaway and when I click  your profile, there is no email address listed.  If you have a blog I will try and contact you that way.  Otherwise, please check back with my blog on the 9th of October.

I am a big fan of technology and I have had a major crush on my iPhone since my 3G in 2010!  I love that the calendar syncs with my Google calendar and up until now,I have organized a large portion of my life without any help from paper and pencil.

Prior to 2000, I bought an 8.5 x 5.5 leather DayTimer.  I was a stay-at-home wife with no children - what did I need a planner for?  If I had known then what I know now, I think I would have used it for many things -  but without much to schedule, it ended up on a shelf. This summer I decided to pick it up again - practically 15 years old but in perfect shape -  and thought maybe I should give it another try.  I certainly have plenty to keep up with now (I mentioned a few reasons in my 31 Days intro post) and maybe it would help me be more efficient than I am now.

I've loved desktop publishing for years and set out to make my own calendar inserts.  I made a few tabs (and made them over a couple of times) and added a few sections and started filling in my calendar.  After visiting a few Facebook groups, I was inspired to keep a weekly calendar and learned many ways to customize a planner and hack it to make it work for me.  I am so organized that I even make myself sick!  ::grin::

I'll go into my planner in depth over the next few weeks, I hope you'll come back to visit.  For now, I'm starting the 31 Days off with a giveaway!  I'm giving away one (not dated calendars) custom planner insert to the winner.  Now please remember, I am not a graphic designer but I do pretty well and I'll work hard to make something just for you.  All you have to do is comment on THIS post to earn an entry.

Please note, if you win and I can't find your email in your comment or profile, I will choose another winner.

This giveaway will close midnight on October 8th.  If you don't win, hang around because I'm hosting one more giveaway this month.

Be sure to check out my 31 Days Introduction for a list of topics I will be covering this month!  Also, for more 31 Day topics (and there are a lot!) check out the 31 Days blog.

  1. I've been a planner user for longer than I can remember. In grade school a spiral notebook was my favorite and by high school I was using a 3 ring notebook. 31 years later and I'm still using a planner, I've used different types over the years but my current favorite is my Family Plus Day Timer. But any good planner is always on the lookout for the next best planner/organizer :)

I have so many appointments and other things I need a planner to keep up with it can be overwhelming if I don't stay on top of it all. I have yet to fin a planner that has everything I need.

I'm fascinated with the different planners out there--like Whitney English Day Designer, Emily Ley, Erin Condren,Filofax, etc. It's probably because I'm so NOT organized--I need all the help I can get! Looking forward to your series! (I'm writing too--31 Days In A Musical Theatre Life). Blessings!
