New Planner Layout

I guess y'all have heard the term, "planner peace", right?  Even though I have been known to switch out my inserts often (I have to test out the inserts I design!), I have always considered myself to have that peace.

The past couple of weeks have found me not being totally happy with my planner.  I think maybe it has to do with a major (at least for me) change around here - my oldest is starting high school...and I'm the teacher!  There's lots of planning to be done but I have been putting it off.  Maybe it's because I don't want my "little boy" to start high school.  Maybe I'm overwhelmed with all the things running through my brain that I have to do!  Regardless, that's what's going on.

We hope to start school at the end of the week, so this past Saturday I took some time to work with my planner and ended up making a few changes.  My system and my inserts are staying exactly the same - I just moved things around.

I removed the dashboard
First of all, I removed the dashboard with the stickies.  I didn't need as many as I had on the board, but I do like having them with me, I put 2 pads in the pockets inside my planner:  a "regular" size and a smaller sized pad.  I also stuck a longer lined pad inside a pocket as well. The majority of my planning is done while I am on my chaise lounge, and I have a table next to it with my planner supplies, so I can reach any size sticky I need; therefore I think just two pads are enough.

The dashboard is replaced with daily and/or note pages (graph paper behind the daily pages).  I wanted the page to be the first thing I see when I open my planner so I will see at a glance what I need to do around the house, what I need (supplies) for school, or errands my husbands my husband might need me to take care of.

I removed the dividers
The major change is that I removed my full page dividers!  This might be temporary, I'll see how I like it.  I have a "today" bookmark inside my weekly pages but I also stuck a small pink tab that will also get me to my pages (it just seemed more convenient).  Following that is a second tab that leads me to my current monthly pages.  I bought these tabs at the Dollar Tree and have a good supply of them.  They're easy to use over or, if they loose their sticky, I just replace them.  The green tab at the top takes me to my future pages.

Behind the Future Pages are the A-Z pages.  The blue tab on the bottom right takes me to the index if I need it, otherwise I can easily see the A-Z dividers.

I can't explain why I like it better, but for right now, I do.  I reserve the right to change my mind at any time!

  1. It semms to be a working solution. I'm curious, if you will like it for a long time.

  2. Will follow how it works for you. You seem pretty consistent, so if you made these tweaks, you probably need them!

  3. What is the planner you used in this picture?
