Friday Felicities for December 12

Friday Felicities

Friday Felicities is a weekly reminder to pause and celebrate the good things—big or small—that make you happy. It started years ago as a fun meme by my sweet friend Nattie, who always encouraged us to count our blessings. Though Nattie has been in heaven since 2007, her joy still inspires me today.

If you’d like to join me, I’d love for you to share your own list of happy things on your blog, Facebook, or favorite social platform. Leave a comment with your link so I can stop by and visit—it would make me smile to see what’s bringing you joy. You can also share your Felicities in the Friday Felicities Facebook page, which is active again and ready to welcome your posts of gratitude and joy! Feel free to use the button below on your own blog or website.

Things That Make Me Happy

This week hasn’t been pretty. I’ve been sick for days, and most of my energy has been spent resting, coughing, and trying to keep up with the basics. But even on the rough weeks, there’s usually something — even if it’s small — that reminds me God is always faithful. So here’s my simple list for today.

1. My wood heater.

This is a big deal because at one time I complained when my husband wanted to put a new wood heater in our first home.  I think they look absoutely ugly.  We are not in a home that has the original wood heater which means it is old and ugly.  But who cares when it is cold?  I mean really cold (believe it or not, it can get very cold).  Sunday I think the low is 15?  My wood heater makes me happy!

2. Another 1.8 pounds gone.

Bragging?  Maybe - but believe me, it makes me very happy for the weight to keep coming off.  Looking into Carnivore, especially if you have health issues.  My first impression was, "there's no way that can be healthy" but if you do your research - you might be surprised.

3. My family.

That one is a no-brainer, right?  This past week I have been looking at old photos from Christmas' past and all the good times we have had with our boys, my sisters, their families, parents, etc.  This is our 10th Christmas without my Dad and I never knew until I experienced it that 10 years can seem forever and also just a short time.  We miss him.

4. My church family.

I have been blessed with a lifetime of church members.  There are so many of them and each one has meant so much - they've seen me at the best of times and the worst of times.  I love you all!  I especially am thankful for those we currently worship with.  You guys have taken us in as family and have taught us so much.  We love you!

This concludes my somewhat sappy edition of Friday Felicities!  There is a little under 2 weeks until Christmas day.  Are you excited?  I pray that you are not stressing over what you can and can't do and enjoy this season with your family. I hope this doesn't sound cliche, but in my heart this reason for this season is Jesus!  What a gift He gave.
